The Motion Formula
Every motion — agenda, minutes, Treasurer's Report, adjournment — follows this exact pattern.
Universal Motion Script
1
You say
"Brothers, you've heard the [agenda / minutes / Treasurer's Report]. How would you like to dispose of this [item]?"
2
You call on Corey
"Brother V/President."
3
Corey — stands, states his name, says
"Brother President, I move to accept the [item] coming from Brother [who delivered it] — [report / minutes] becomes a part of our archives for reference and/or examination."
4
You call on yourself as Treasurer, then second
"Brother Treasurer." (Stand, state your name) "I second."
5
You say
"Brothers, it has been properly moved by Brother V/President Corey and seconded by Brother Aaron — we accept the [item] as [presented / reported / read]."
6
You say — three times in a row
"Question on the motion. Question on the motion. Question on the motion."
NOTE: Pause after each. If someone asks a question, answer it. No Brother speaks twice until all have had a turn.
7
You say
"Hearing no questions — all those in favor, raise your right hand." (Wait 2–3 seconds and count.) "Those opposed have the same right." (Wait and count.)
8
You say + gavel once
"Motion carries." Hit gavel once.
